18 March: A group of unknown assailants shoot at Governor José Murat, who is slightly injured. Expert tests indicate that the Governor of Oaxaca could in fact have shot himself. No judicial ruling on the matter is made.

14 September: Around 200 police officers, using tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon disperse the permanent protest by the CIPO-RFM that had been staged since 20th April that year in front of the City Council and the Temple of Santo Domingo in the city of Oaxaca.

1 December: Ulises Ortiz Ruiz becomes Governor of Oaxaca.
