January 2: Nahua indigenous people from 23 towns in the municipality of Chilapa de Alvarez, in the Upper Mountain of Guerrero, makes a road blockade between Chilapa and Hueytenango after receiving new threats from the criminal group âLos Ardillosâ.
January 21: The Mountain Human Rights Center “Tlachinollan” and the International Peace Brigades-Mexico organize a virtual event with relatives of victims of disappearance, with the aim of informing international actors about the human rights situation in the state.

July 25: Mario Casarrubias Salgado dies from COVID-19. He is considered one of the founders of the criminal group Guerreros Unidos, linked to the disappearance of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Normal Rural School.
August 6: Moises Brito Bautista is murdered. A key piece of investigation in the Ayotzinapa case is lost due to this murder.
August 8: community members along with representatives of social organizations and opponents of La Parota Dam march through the streets of Acapulco to demand the presentation of Vicente Suastegui Muñoz, who is reported missing since August 5th.
