If we have the chance to see some documentary that shows us images of the decades of the '60s and '70s in Chiapas, it is not difficult for us to stop thinking that those same takes could have been filmed today. The Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean (better known as the Escazu Agreement as it was adopted in the Costa Rican city of that name), is a pioneering legal instrument on environmental protection, and at the same time a human rights treaty that proposes a transformation of environmental governance.
